1700-luvun osalta aihe on varsin hyvin katettu: Richard van D"ulmen, Die Gesellschaft der Aufklarer (?); Wolfgang Ruppert, Burgerlicher Wandel; Ulrich Im Hof, Das gesellige Jahrhundert.

1800-luvun Saksan osalta tilanne on heikompi. Nipperdeyn artikkelin "Vereinswesen" (loytyy hanen 1976-artikkelikokoelmastaan) lisaksi ei juuri muuta perustavanlaatuista ole tiedossa. Lothar Gallilla on kuitenkin ollut projekti kaupungin ja modernin porvariston synnysta. Ensimmaiset raportit (kirjoiksi niita ei voi kutsua) siita on jo julkaistu. Vilkaisemisen arvoinen on mm. Historische Zeitschriftin viime vuoden numeron Sonderheft. Mielenkiintoisempi on Niethammerin, Ludtken ja Frevertin "vastaprojekti", joka kantaa nimea "Burgerliche gesellschaft in Deutschland. Historische Einblicke, Fragen, Perspektiven. Frankfurt/M: Fischer Taschenbuch Verlag, 1990."

Baltian lukuseuroista muuten on olemassa mainio kaksiosainen artikkeli Indrek J"urjolta aikakauskirjassa "Jahrbuch fur Osteuropa".

Eurooppalaisesta ja osin pohjoisamerikkalaisestakin yhdistyslaitoksesta luulisi saavan hyvan kuvan Ulrich Im Hofin vastailmestyneesta teoksesta "Aufklarung" (tms.), joka tietaakseni on ilmestynyt myos englanniksi.

Seasons Greetings,
