How could I advertise the presence on the Web of two Italian (but really international) academic journals concerning history of historiography ?
One is Storia della Storiografia, a traditional printed journal born in 1982, of which I realized a version for the Internet limited to general informations and summaries of past, current and future issues.
It may be found at:
http://www.cisi.unito.it/stor/home.htm
The second is a new, entirely electronic journal of modern historiography and database called CROMOHS (=Cyber Review of Modern Historiography). It is presently waiting of giving its first issue; and its editors are heavily working for opening its LIBRARY, a specialized library of texts, documents and research materials of modern historiography (XVIth-XXth centuries). Its provisional structure and its future plans may be seen at:
http://galileo.difi.unipi.it/cromohs/homepage.html
What else could I tell you about CROMOHS and Storia della Storiografia that you cannot find in their respective sites ? It may interest you to know that - as to their general approach - they are two academic journals made by European and American university researchers and scholars.
The most interesting - in my opinion - is CROMOHS, that we conceived as an entirely electronic review, database and library of texts. The first two aspects are roughly manageable by two energetic editors, like my colleague Minuti (university of Florence) and myself. The third aspect is of course more momentous in terms of public interest, but it requires a huge effort for scanning and editing texts. We begun early in 1995 and we hope to be able to publish the first issue by the end of this year.
We have not yet started a real promotion and advertising policy, for which we would wait to be in proximity to publication of n. 1. Notices about editorial staff and information, program, aims both for CROMOHS and Storia are available at he addresses I mentioned in my earlier message.
