International seminar “Finnish-American Immigrants in Transition” held in Turku on June 1-2, 2009

The Department of General History, University of Turku, the FiDiPro programme “Multiculturalism as a new pathway to incorporation”, and the Institute of Migration organized an international seminar titled “Finnish-American Immigrants in Transition” in Turku on June 1-2, 2009.

The seminar brought together scholars interested in migration studies from Finland, the United States, Canada, and Denmark. The presentations looked into the questions of identity formation and integration among immigrants more broadly, and among Finnish immigrants in North America more specifically. The seminar offered a great opportunity to strengthen research networks among scholars interested in these questions on both sides of the Atlantic.
