The multidisciplinary project “Multiculturalism as a New Pathway to Incorporation”, funded by the Academy of Finland (FiDiPro), offers teaching at the University of Turku again in Fall 2012.
The Seminar on Multiculturalism is intended for researchers and students of history, sociology, and other fields of study. The seminar will discuss the concept of multiculturalism as well as its policies and practices, as carried on in various social and cultural environments.
The seminar starts with an introductory session on Tuesday, September 11, followed by student presentations. Each seminar participant selects a topic for writing a research plan on their own field of study, which will be deepened further in the seminar meetings. Students have also the option of writing a full research paper in the course.
The seminar will also contain guest lectures given by specialists working on research topics related to the concept of multiculturalism. Papers in progress as well as finished papers are discussed on the seminar website (Moodle). Students may register for the seminar at https://moodle.utu.fi/ after having contacted Aleksi Huhta at alehuh(at)utu.fi.
