MCnet offers travel grants for projects devoted to multiculturalism studies

The Network for Research on Multiculturalism and Societal Interaction (MCnet) offers
travel grants to (1) doctoral students and post doctoral -researchers (max. 5 years after PhD) at the University of Turku; (2) departments/disciplines for inviting a guest lecturer to the University of Turku.

Grants must be used for the purpose of supporting projects devoted to exploring multicultural topics, which can include supporting teaching and research activities.

The level of funding is modest. It is intended to permit recipients to travel to various venues. In some cases, the funding might be sufficient to cover all travel-related expenses (travel, accommodation, and conference fees), while in other instances it can serve to supplement funding from other sources.

Applications should contain the following elements: (1) a brief cover letter stating the purpose of the request and contact information, including an e-mail address; (2) a concise travel or work plan of no more than 2 pages; and (3) a short CV. Applications can be made in either English or Finnish. If the application is made in Finnish, a short English language summary is required.

For this funding cycle, funds must be expended no later than 31 May 2012.

Successful applicants are required to provide a report on their activity and expenses within three months of expending the funds.

Applications should be sent as an e-mail attachment to marjut.anttonen(at)utu.fi by 24th of October, 2011. Funding decisions will be made by the board of the MCnet at its meeting in early November.
