MULTI-MEDIA-POSTER SESSION

CALL FOR VIDEOS/POSTERS/COMPUTER SIMULATIONS -- MONTREAL, AUGUST 1995

The 18th International Congress of Historical Sciences will be held in Montreal from 27 August to 3 September 1995 and 4-5,000 historians from all over the world are expected to attend. The call for formal papers has already been held, but 'new' historians are encouraged to submit proposals for posters/videos/slide or computer presentations for a "Multi-media Poster Session", all themes and time periods will be considered.

Proposals will be examined by a Committee of "new" Historians based in Canada. If your proposal is accepted you will be invited to be present to set up your presentation and to be available at set times to answer questions about it. The purpose of the session is to allow graduate students and recently completed Ph.D. students (ie. within the last three years) to participate fully in this international conference, and to show the broader historical world the results of innovative research and presentation methodologies. The interaction will be informal and is intended to make it easier to meet people interested in your specific topic or methodology.

POSTERS: Posters should be no larger than one square metre. To submit a poster proposal send a one page abstract, a mock-up of the poster design and a short curriculum vitae.

OTHER PRESENTATIONS: People proposing videos, slide presentations, or computer simulations should send a one or two page abstract and a brief curriculum vitae.

Priority will be given to graduate students and scholars who have completed their Ph.D. in the past three years. Please note that the conference cannot PROVIDE FUNDING FOR PARTICIPANTS. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS OCTOBER 31ST, 1994. Paper proposals should be sent to Colin Coates, Co-ordinator, ICHS Poster Session, c/o Department of History, McGill University, 855 Sherbrooke STREET WEST, MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA, H3A 2T7.
